A Harvard Medical School research team estimates 2,266 U.S. military veterans under the age of 65 died last year because they lacked health insurance and had reduced access to care.
That’s more than 14 times the number of deaths suffered by U.S. troops in Afghanistan the same year.

Recission is the retroactive cancellation of an individual health insurance policies, or the insurers’ established practice of looking for ways to invalidate policies once the insured needs significant medical care.
Don Hamm, CEO of Assurant, recently testified that the practice is rare, affecting only 0.5% of the population.
