I’ve never seen anything but perfect fruit for sale — each neatly packaged one-by-one.
So what happens to the produce that is misshapen or slightly bruised or marred by rubbing against the stem? Some of it goes into processed foods and juice. The rest is dumped — and dumped all along the delivery chain.

Japan makes more single malt whisky than Scotland but has developed a taste for the tipple from St George’s Distillery near Thetford, in Norfolk, and is importing 400 bottles every month.
The only whisky distillery in England is exporting its spirit 6,000 miles to Japan.
